Throughout the course of this month, we will be reading and studying about the significance of grace and its meaning in our lives. We will look at God's forgiveness and mercy and will recognize that we need to forgive others also. We will read and see the unsurmountable peace that one obtains from grace and forgiveness whether he is the giver or the receiver. After this month is over, I pray that we all will make a conscious effort in the strength of Christ to be seek God for grace, mercy, forgiveness, and peace; and to then go and do likewise for our fellow men. This month, PlugIn2God is focusing on grace, peace, and forgiveness. We all need grace: for by grace are we saved through faith, and that not of ourselves; it is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8).

This month, we are focusing on the sanctuary. Throughout the Bible, there have been many sanctuaries:
The Wilderness Tabernacle (Exodus 25-30) Solomon's Temple (1 Kings 5-9; 2 Chronicles 2-7) After the Babylonian Captivity (The Books of Ezra and Nehemiah) During Oppression by Rome (Luke 7:2-5; 19:41-44) But one question that I think is often debated or at least pondered on by many Christians is whether or not the laws and statues of Leviticus still apply to us today. Do we still need to study them? The first letter to the Corinthians tells us that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Are there not principles from the Levitical law which we can apply to our lives so that we may be pure and holy, tried and true? The sanctuary serves not only as a dwelling place for God, but also as a model, an illustration, of the heavenly sanctuary, the plan of salvation. Should we not study the sanctuary in order that we might be better acquainted with God story for our lives? I believe so; and I do hope and pray that by the end of this month, you too will believe the same. While we cannot cover everything about the sanctuary in one 30-day period, God has given us a guide -- that is, the Bible -- to be utilized for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction that we may be furnished unto perfection and righteousness. This month, PlugIn2God is focusing on the Creation story. Later this month, people will be celebrating Earth Day; but why? Most (not all, but a great lot) believe that the creation of this planet and its inhabitants was an accident. So why care about what happens to it?
Because some of us believe that there is a Creator-- One who not only has created this earth but also currently is creating a clean heart and a right spirit within those who so desire. He is One who not only has and is creating, but He will create a new heaven and earth when He comes again to cleanse the world of sin. That is our focus this month: to learn more about our wonderful Creator and the beautiful world that He created long ago. We will study to learn about the importance of the Creation week, and what it means for God's followers today-- regardless of heredity or denomination. The 1-Month Bible Reading Plan for "Creation: God's Masterpiece" can be downloaded from the "Walk With God" page. For the year 2011, I have created 1-month Bible reading plans with a different focus each month. The daily Bible readings are available on the PlugIn2God blog, or on the "Walk With God" section of this website. You can also download the bookmark version here.
The theme for the month of January is "Faithful Hearts in Foreign Places". Daniel, Ruth, Esther, Joseph (son of Jacob), Captain Naaman and his maid-- these are all examples of people who strove to remain loyal to God despite the cost. Aside from Naaman, the persons we will be reading about were not in their homeland, and yet they followed God wholeheartedly. Captain Naaman chose not to follow the gods of his country any longer; instead, he went so far as to request forgiveness for that over which he had no control. God blessed them all for their faithfulness. Sometimes, we take on the "two Carolines" persona: we behave like angels in certain places, but when elsewhere, nobody can even tell that we belong to God. We need to recognize that there is always someone watching us, and we hurt our witness for Christ when we live double lives. We must be faithful and loyal to God in spite of everything-- no matter where we are, no matter who we think is watching, no matter how difficult it is, no matter how weird we will seem. I do hope and pray that we all will learn the eternal lessons written in the lives of these characters of faith and that we will strive to be like them-- pledging our hearts and lives to God no matter what. |
